Playing
Is Quartography free?
Yes. No ads, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Solo, Family on one phone, the daily challenge and your atlas all work without a connection. Only family sync between phones and Live play need the internet.
The questions are too hard or too easy.
Each player has a level from 1 to 5. Change it in Settings (or per person in Family). Lower levels ask about well-known countries and facts; higher levels go deeper.
How long do I have to answer?
25 seconds per question. The timer ticks for the last few seconds. Run out of time and the turn passes.
Can I turn off sounds or vibration?
Yes, both are in Settings.
Family and phones
How do I add another phone to our family?
On a phone already in the family, open Settings → Family → Add another phone to see the family code. On the new phone, choose Your family → Join with a code and enter it.
I forgot the parent PIN.
Email us from the address below with your family code and family name. We'll check it's really you and help you set a new one.
Atlases look different on two phones.
Phones sync when they're online and the app is open. Open Quartography on both phones with a connection and wait a few seconds. If one is still behind, remove that phone from the family and join again with the code; no atlas is lost.
We got a new phone. How do we move our family?
Install Quartography on the new phone and join with your family code. Everyone's people and atlases come across. Then remove the old phone from the family.
Live play
How do I play with someone on another phone?
Choose Live, create a room and share the room code or link. Others join with the code. Everyone needs an internet connection.
Someone dropped out of a Live game.
If their connection comes back while the room is open, they rejoin where they left off. The host can also remove a player who has left.
Troubleshooting
- The app shows a blank screen or freezes: close it fully and open it again. If that doesn't help, update to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
- No sound: check the sound setting in Settings. Also check your phone’s volume and, on iPhone, the silent switch.
- The browser game looks out of date: reload the page. If you added it to your home screen, close and reopen it.
- Family sync shows an error: check your connection and try again in a minute.
When you email us about a problem, it helps to tell us your phone model, your system version (for example iOS 18 or Android 15) and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot helps too.
Reporting a wrong answer
Facts change and sources disagree, so a question is sometimes out of date. Send us the question, the answer the game gave and, if you can, a link to a source. We fix confirmed mistakes in the next update.
